Oppo A37 – How to Turn Off Autocorrect

If you have autocorrect turned on, it might be the cause of some embarrassing text messages. This feature is designed to help you spell and deal with typos, but it quite often doesn’t perform the way it’s supposed to. Autocorrect can insert a wrong word in your text or correct a word that doesn’t need any correction.

Oppo A37 - How to Turn Off Autocorrect

For this reason, you might choose to turn the autocorrect option on your Oppo A37 off. Here’s how to do it:

1. Open the Settings App

Launch the Settings app from your Home screen to access the menu.

2. Select Additional Settings

Swipe down the Settings menu and tap on Additional Settings to get more options.

3. Select Language and Input Method

Tap on Language and Input Method to access additional settings.

4. Tap on TouchPal for OPPO

Enter the Smart Input menu by tapping on TouchPal for OPPO.

5. Uncheck Auto-correction

You need to uncheck the box next to Auto-correction. The Oppo A37 comes with auto-correction turned on by default, so if this option is bothering you when you type text messages, you should turn it off as soon as you get the phone.

Additional Text Correction Features

The Smart Input menu in your Oppo A37 features a few other text correction options that may help you type more efficiently. If you are bothered by any of these features, you can easily disable each one by unchecking the box next to it.

Curve – Word Gesture

Curve – Word Gesture is an option that allows you to type by sliding your finger across the keyboard. It can be quite helpful when you are typing with one hand. You may need some practice to get used to this feature, but when you do, you should be able to type much faster.

Wave – Sentence Gesture

This Smart Input feature is quite similar to Curve – Word Gesture. Wave – Sentence Gesture provides phrase and word suggestions as you slide across the letters on your Oppo A37 keyboard. You can use any of the suggested words or phrases by pulling them down to the Space key one after the other.

Contextual Prediction

Contextual Prediction is a Smart Input option that guesstimates the next word you are going to type. This option can come in handy if you are typing a lot of text messages on a daily basis. If you continually use this feature, it will become better at predicting the words you want to type.

Auto Saving

If a novel word appears in your text message, the Auto Saving option will automatically save the word to your dictionary. You don’t have to use this feature, but you should keep it on if you are often frustrated by the Oppo A37 software not recognizing the words you type.

Auto Space

As its name suggests, this option automatically adds a space after every word you type. If you keep it on, you won’t have to go back to your message and edit all the words that have been typed together.

Auto Capitalization

Auto Capitalization is a Smart Input option that capitalizes the first word each time you start a new sentence.

In Conclusion

As you can see, it is quite simple to disable the autocorrect feature on your Oppo A37. On the other hand, the additional Smart Input features might not be as bothersome as Auto-correction, so don’t hesitate to give them a try. If you’re unhappy with any of features, you can easily disable them in the Smart Input menu.
