The Do Not Disturb feature is a life-saver for people who participate in multiple group chats. There’s nothing worse than getting a notification for every message in every chat throughout the day. How Things Worked Before the Update

If you’re a long-time Snapchat user, you know how annoying notifications can be. Before the new “Do Not Disturb” feature was introduced, you didn’t have many options to stop the notification sound. You could either block the person entirely or leave it to the group to make the notifications stop.

That was not the best way of handling things, especially if the shared information is essential. You could also put your phone in silent mode, but that would mute all functions, making it easy to miss important phone calls or reply to messages hours later. That really needed a working fix that is finally here.

What Is the Do Not Disturb Mode

The “Do Not Disturb” mode on Snapchat is the feature many users have been waiting for a long time. It was introduced in 2018, and it’s one of the features that made the biggest boom. You can finally forget about getting notifications every time someone posts something in a group or sends you a private message.

It can be your old college buddy who can’t stop talking about politics or a family member that keeps sending you photos and asks questions all the time. If you’re in a group, things can get even worse. You will get notifications from five people who keep sending messages, photos, and who knows what. The incessant notification sound might be highly inappropriate in some situations, especially when you have a face to face conversation with a friend.

The feature works much like the “Turn off notifications” feature on Facebook. It allows you to block notifications from chatty friends who never stop typing. You can always visit the group or the private chat to see the messages but without the notification sounds. After a few not so successful updates, Snapchat nailed it with the “Do Not Disturb” mode that is an absolute godsend for some users. You can activate it with a few simple taps, and you can reverse the changes just as easily.

How to Activate the Do Not Disturb Mode

The “Do Not Disturb” mode works for one-on-one and group chats alike. It’s effortless to turn on and off. We don’t know why Snapchat waited so long to introduce this feature, but we are happy they finally did. Here is what you have to do to turn it on:

Find the contact or group you want to “mute.”
Then, tap on their Bitmoji and a menu with options will popup.
Select “Settings” and you will be taken to another options list.
Tap “Do Not Disturb” to mute the notifications for that person or group.
You can double-check if the settings are working by following the same steps. Instead of “Do Not Disturb,” you should have an option that says “Turn On Notifications.”

That’s everything you need to do to get rid of annoying notifications. As you can see, Snapchat did an excellent job of making things easy, even if you’re not that tech-savvy.

Check Messages When You Have Time

Snapchat is very popular and almost everyone you know probably has a registered account. The stress caused by repeating notification sounds all day every day was really annoying, and many people were begging for a fix. The “Do Not Disturb” feature finally allowed the users to mute the notification sounds.
