Does Snapchat Have a Support Phone Number I Can Call?
‘My Snapchat keeps crashing and I cannot fix it. Does Snapchat have a support phone number I can call so they can help?’ This was a plea we received in the TechJunkie mailbox this morning and I just had to respond. Snapchat crashing is a common theme among users but there are lots of things you can do to fix it yourself. I will provide contact details for Snapchat though in case you genuinely do need them.
Sorry to disappoint but Snapchat doesn’t have a support phone number. Not one I can find anyway. Their support website has a web form you can fill in once you answer a bunch of questions but there is no way to contact the company directly.
On one hand, this isn’t a great way to run a business. Not having a direct line to your customer base is a huge issue for when they want to contact you or need help. On the other hand, given the massive user base of Snapchat, it would be almost impossible to provide live support for every territory and language of user. Even with the huge resources of this company, it just isn’t feasible.
So if you’re having app problems, it’s down to you to fix it. Don’t worry though, I’ll be with you all the way.
Fixing common Snapchat errors
For things like account hacks or privacy or safety concerns, the above support website is the place to go. You can report issues directly and will hopefully see a response by the time you’re 105 years old. If it’s just the app not working properly, I can probably help.
Here are some of the more common Snapchat errors and their solutions.
Is Snapchat down?
A common reason for contacting Snapchat is to check if the platform is working properly or whether it is down. You can do that yourself with Down Detector. This is a very useful website that checks any site or domain you want to see if it is working properly or not. It performs basic checks to see if the servers are contactable and whether there are known outages.
App isn’t behaving as it should
There are a range of causes for Snapchat not working properly and a range of solutions. Here are a few.
Reset Snapchat – Shut down the app and restart it again. Use Force Close in Android to make sure the process was fully shut down. Start the app again and see if it works properly. A restart can fix 95% of app issues.
Restart your phone – If an app restart didn’t work, rebooting your phone might. Any issues with the operating system, RAM, temporary files or something completely different can stop Snapchat working properly. An occasional reboot is good for your phone anyway.
Clear the Snapchat app cache – The app cache is where Snapchat stores temporary files. Even a restart or reboot doesn’t clear this so you have to do it manually in Android.
- Select Settings and Apps.
- Select Snapchat and Storage.
- Select Clear Cache and Clear App Data.
Different brands of phone and versions of Android call this slightly different things but you should be able to find it.
Update the app – Whether you use Android or iPhone, it’s important to keep all your apps up to date. Open the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and look for updates for your apps. If there are some, the store app should tell you and allow you to update everything at once. Otherwise, select Snapchat and then Update.
Update your phone OS – This is a less common issue and usually it’s because a new version of Snapchat was released to address a change in the OS and you updated the app but not your operating system. Switch on WiFi and let your phone detect any OS updates or you could go looking for one. Either way, make sure iOS or Android is up to date.
Reinstall the app – This is the move of last resort but can fix all manner of Snapchat issues. Any file corruption, misconfiguration or issue with a setting or file can be overwritten with a new copy. Uninstall Snapchat, clear out any temporary files and reinstall the app again. You should only need to set up any particular customizations as everything else will be linked to your account.
It’s a shame Snapchat doesn’t have a support phone number but when the company has millions of users across the globe, you can understand why they don’t. Self help is the best kind of help and hopefully after reading this you have a much better idea of how to address app issues yourself.
