How to Delete Your Plenty of Fish Account

There are Plenty of Reasons why you might want to delete your Plenty of Fish (POF) account. Whether you’ve finally found the perfect catch, want a break from the dating game, or have decided to use one of the other dating websites or apps out there, we understand why you might want to close your account.

How to Delete Your Plenty of Fish Account

Opposed to Tinder, Plenty of Fish focuses more on compatibility than a simple swipe left swipe right method of finding a companion. You’ll need to fill out a few pages of questions about yourself (hobbies, aspirations, and oddly even your family) before you can move forward.

In this article we’ll show you how to delete your Plenty of Fish account and give you few other tips too!

Like most platforms, you can either delete your entire profile permanently or just hide it from view. With the latter, people won’t be able to find you on the website, which might be a perfect solution if you’re in two minds about calling time on the site completely. We’ll show you how to do both.

First, here’s how to delete your POF account permanently.

How to delete your Plenty of Fish account for good

Deleting your Plenty of Fish account means you’re ready to let everything on your profile go forever. This means all of your previous connections, conversations, and even your photos will be removed from the dating service.

When you’re ready to say ‘goodbye’ to Plenty of Fish and all that it has to offer, follow these steps:

Visit this webpage. Sign into the Plenty of Fish website if prompted.

Fill out the selections then click ‘Delete Account.’

Unfortunately, the app version of Plenty of Fish does not give you the option to delete your account. You’ll need to use a mobile web browser like Chrome, Safari, or Mozilla to do this on a mobile device. But, the steps are very similar.

How to hide your Plenty of Fish profile

If you just want a break from dating for a while, but think you want to come back to Plenty of Fish at a later date, hiding your profile is probably the best option.

This is the perfect option for anyone who isn’t ready to permanently delete everything on their Plenty of Fish account. Maybe you’re holding onto some memories, or you just want to take a break, either way, follow these steps to hide your profile:

Navigate to http://www.pof.com. Log in to your Plenty of Fish account. Click ‘Edit Profile’ at the top of the webpage.

Scroll down to ‘Profile Visibility‘ and click the bubble next to ‘Hide Profile.’

Your profile will no longer appear in any suggestions or search results. If you’d like to un-hide your profile and any time, simply follow the same steps to put yourself back on the market.

It should be mentioned that several users have complained this option is missing, and based on our tests, it did give us some trouble as well. Our workaround was to use Incognito Mode to access the Plenty of Fish website.

If for some reason Plenty of Fish isn’t cooperating, open a private browsing session and the issue should resolve itself. Otherwise, you may need to reach out to the Support Team for further assistance.

Edit Your Profile

If you want to delete your POF account because you just aren’t meeting anyone, consider updating your profile first. A great profile can bring in more connections and therefore, more dates.

Due to the nature of Plenty of Fish’s compatibility focus, it’s a good idea to update your profile periodically to stay relevant and become attractive to a new group of people.

Of course, there are some things you don’t want to change like your age or what you’re looking for (marriage, casual, etc.). But, you can change your hobbies, interests, pictures, and other details. Plenty of Fish also gives you a lot of room to write a Bio that’s intriguing and informative.

To update your profile, do this:

  1. Log into Plenty of Fish and tap ‘Profile’ in the upper right-hand corner. Then tap on ‘Edit Profile.’
  2. Scroll through the list of options updating as you please.
  3. Once complete, click ‘Save Changes’ at the bottom.

As you can see, we didn’t put a lot of thought into our Conversation Starters but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. Be creative and genuine when writing your profile and other details. There are thousands of people on Plenty of Fish so you’ll want to stand out. Also, be sure to stay true to yourself (for example when filling out what you’re looking for in a partner and the future). Otherwise, you might find a match that won’t work out in the long-term.

Frequently Asked Questions

Plenty of Fish, along with other dating sites, can be complicated (as if dating wasn’t already complicated enough) which is why we’ve added more answers to your questions here!

How do I cancel my paid subscription?

Like many sites, you can opt in to upgrade your account from a standard profile to one that gives you more benefits and increases your likelihood of finding the perfect match. But, if you feel that you simply aren’t getting any benefits, canceling is easy.

We like this option because you don’t have to permanently delete your account. You simply change your subscription to one that doesn’t cost you money.

To cancel your subscription do this:

1. Head over to this website and sign in.

2. On your phone, click on your Account Page on the left. If you’re on a computer, click on the ‘Premium’ page at the top.

3. Select the ‘Click here to let your upgrade expire’ hyperlink.

4. Confirm that you’d like to stop your subscription.

When the billing cycle renews, you’ll no longer be charged for the service.

Can I reactivate a deleted account?

Unfortunately no. When you follow the steps above to remove your account there is no option to reactivate it. However, if the POF team deletes your account for spam, or community guidelines violations, you can send an email to see if they’ll reactivate your account for you.
