How To Turn off Autocorrect on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
The auto-correct option is designed to help you with your spelling and typos. However, often times this feature doesn’t perform as you might expect. It corrects the words that don’t need correcting or comes up with something completely different.
To avoid sending wrong or embarrassing messages, you can disable the auto-correct on your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. There are a few steps that you need to take to turn off this option.
1. Launch the Settings App
Tap to open the Settings app on your Home Screen.
2. Select Additional Settings
Find Additional Settings and tap it.
3. Select Language & Input
Once you are inside the Additional Settings menu, tap on Language and Input to get more options.
4. Select Current Keyboard
Tap on Current Keyboard in the Language and Input menu to enter additional keyboard settings on your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
5. Select Text Correction
Tap on Text Correction in the Current Keyboard menu to access all of the text correction options.
6. Select Auto-correction
Swipe down in the Text Correction menu and toggle the switch next to the Auto-correction option to off.
Now, you have successfully turned off auto-correct on your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. You should know that this feature is turned on by default on your smartphone.
Additional Text Correction Options
Your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with a few additional text correction options. These features are not as intrusive as auto-correction so you may find some of them quite useful. You can find all of the additional features in the Text Correction menu, most of them are also turned on by default.
This option provides you with word suggestions while you are typing messages. The words will be displayed above the keyboard. If you type a lot of messages, the software will get better at making suggestions.
This uses the previous word to guesstimate what you will type next. Again, it learns your common phrases, in addition to what people normally use.
Block Offensive Words
This feature comes in handy if you plan to give the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 to a minor.
Show Emoji Suggestions
This option shows you a preview of suitable emojis as you type.
Suggest Contact Names
The Suggest Contact Names feature uses the names from your Contacts as suggestions while you type. It can be useful when you want to refer to a particular person while typing messages.
This is a smart feature that collects the input data from your accounts, apps, and services to improve the suggestion options. In other words, if you keep this feature on all of the suggestion options will be more accurate after a while.
Turning off auto-correction on your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is quite simple. There is no need to stress over the wrong words that this feature might insert into your messages. All you need to do is follow the steps above and you’ll have a hassle-free texting experience.
