How to Clear Recently Watched in Disney Plus
Disney Plus was released on November 12, 2019, and the launch has been mostly smooth. But because millions of people started using the service on day one, some system glitches and problems were to be expected.
For example, for many users, the Recently Watched section was non-existent for a couple of days. However, the feature is back and, naturally, many would like to know how to clear unwanted items from it. Let’s see how it’s done. Plus, there are some tips on the best content available on the platform.
Get Started By Signing Up
Before you start streaming your favorite Disney movies on Disney Plus, you’ll need to get signed up for an account. Start by signing up here for a free week trial, or get your favorite movies, shows, and sports for one low price by bundling Disney Plus, Hulu, and ESPN Plus right here!
Clearing Recently Watched
Unlike Hulu or Netflix, Disney+ has yet to add a viewing history section or even an option to delete your watch history. This is especially unfortunate because like the other platforms, Disney+ makes recommendations based on your past selections.
So, without the option to remove a viewing history, what can you do to customize your Disney+ selections.
Remove Watchlist Content
Even though the “Recently Watched” list was added, the company has yet to add an option to delete the content. But, you can delete items from your Watchlist. To make the distinction, you have to add items to your Watchlist that you may want to watch later. It just makes it easier to search the content you want to watch (especially if you have kids who watch the same movie over and over again).
To remove content from your Watchlist, do this:
Launch Disney Plus on your device and go to the Watchlist at the top of the interface.
Find the item you want to remove and press the “Checkmark” button in the corner of its thumbnail. This will remove it from your list.
This will work most of the time, but it might sometimes glitch, preventing you from removing a certain item. You may have to try a couple of times, but it will work eventually.
Since you can’t delete your Disney+ viewing history, you’ll have to find some workarounds to control your suggested content. Just like other streaming platforms, Disney+ lets you create individual profiles.
Not only should you setup an individual profile for each user, but, you can delete and add profiles as you need. To be clear, the first profile is the main profile. If you’re sincerely discouraged about your inability to delete previously watched content, do this:
Access Disney+ and click on your profile icon in the upper right-hand corner.
Next, tap on ‘Edit Profile.’
Then tap the ‘+’ icon in the center of the screen.
Now, you have a brand new go-to profile. When you’re ready to delete your viewing history, delete the profile and start a new one. As of November 2020, this is the best workaround we’ve seen.
Keep in mind that you can’t delete the main profile. So, if you’re trying to use this workaround to purge watched content you need to create a secondary profile.
What to Watch on Disney Plus
As promised, we will give you recommendations for some of the best content to watch on Disney Plus.
Created by Jon Favreau, the creator of Iron Man, the movie that started the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the series premiered on November 12 with the launch of the streaming service. It’s made in a familiar Space Western-style, set in the Star Wars universe 5 years after the events of Return of the Jedi.
The plot centers on a Mandalorian bounty hunter roaming beyond the reaches of the New Republic. The title character is played by Pedro Pascal, known for his outstanding performance in the series Narcos, and for his well-liked but short-lived performance in Game of Thrones.
Although the pilot received some mixed reviews, there is still so much more to explore, and it may become the Star Wars series that fans have been waiting for.
Gravity Falls is an incredibly creative and infinitely funny animated series created by Alex Hirsch, which follows twin siblings Dipper and Mabel Pines as they spend the summer at their Grunkle (Great-uncle) Stan’s tourist trap in the cryptic Gravity Falls, Oregon.
Episodes have unusual plotlines with unexpected twists and turns, with a plethora of funny and interesting side-characters. The series is generally episodic, though the episodes do connect to form a bigger, over-arching narrative.
While the colorful and energetic art style is entertaining for kids, the complex lore, unique characters, and hilarious jokes make the show great for adults, too.
The series focuses on Kim Possible, a seemingly ordinary teenage girl trying to deal with the pressures of high school. The twist is that she is also a strong, agile, and intelligent super-agent of a global organization that protects the world from evil.
She is accompanied by her high school friend and side-kick, Ron Stoppable, a clumsy and incompetent but incredibly lucky teenager. His naked mole-rat named Rufus, and a 10-year old computer genius known as Wade.
Kim faces many different foes throughout the series, with the main ones being the diabolical mad scientist Dr. Drakken and her high school rival Bonnie Rockwaller. Great for children and adults!
X-Men: The Animated Series
One of the most bellowed animated superhero series of all time, X-Men: The Animated Series follows the adventures of several of the most popular X-Men – Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Professor X, and Magneto. Since the X-men characters in the movies usually weren’t too well-received among fans, the animated series is widely considered to represent their best versions ever brought to screen.
The show’s design and animation might be lacking and the dialogue can be a bit corny at times, but that all adds to the nostalgic feel that many fans crave. The plot covers some of the biggest storylines from the X-Man comics, so there are plenty of stories to engage in.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
Created by Robert Zemeckis, Who Framed Roger Rabbit is a masterpiece with a stunning combination of live-action and animated sequences, set in a film-noir style plot. The story follows a private detective Bob Hoskins who partners with a cartoon rabbit to solve a murder mystery.
During the film, they get to meet some of the most famous animated characters ever created, such as Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck, and even Mickey Mouse. The movie was praised for top-notch acting performances and animation style, making it seem like the cartoons are in the same room as the actors. This is definitely a must-see classic.
Mary Poppins (1964)
Jane and Michael Banks are children of a rich family that are about to get a new nanny. They are surprised by the arrival of the magical and whimsical Mary Poppins who, through a series of fantastical adventures, teaches the children about life. The movie combines live-action and animated sequences and is Walt Disney’s crowning live-action success. Musical numbers from the movie are so memorable that you can’t help but hum them long after the movie is over.
A Relatively Smooth Start for Disney Plus
Even though there have been some interface issues, Disney Plus had a pretty great start. With so much classic Disney content already available and new movies and TV shows on the horizon, it may become one of the biggest streaming services out there.
