Navigating your inventory online in Roblox

The in-game inventory user interface is a good start, but once you start amassing a large collection of items, the Roblox website becomes much easier to use. The website offers the easiest way to manage certain game functions, such as character customization and outfit design. This is not ideal, but it’s by no means game breaking. Follow these steps to navigate your inventory on the Roblox website:

Navigate to the Roblox website and log in.
Select the menu icon in the top left and select Inventory.
Use the menu on the left to select item categories and navigate from there.

If you don’t see the item you’re looking for, there is a page selector at the bottom of each page. If your inventory spans multiple pages, make sure to scroll through each one while looking for the item.

Dropping items in Roblox

Players and developers alike often leaving stuff lying around in Roblox. Depending on your server, time of day, and population, you will often see random items just sitting there for any user to pick up as they please. If someone has dropped something and is no longer around, these items are fair game too.

If you have an item you would like to get rid of, you can drop it to do so. Simply select the item in your inventory, hold it, and select backspace. This will work to drop anything in your inventory, except hats, which you need to use the ‘=’ key to drop for some reason.

Inventory privacy in Roblox

A favorite pastime of many players is to follow developers or other prominent players around in Roblox and check out their inventory. This would give you an idea of what items might be coming to the game or could just satisfy curiosity. If you’re interesting in designing your own clothing and outfits in Roblox, snooping on people’s inventory was a fantastic way of getting inspiration.

Spying on other players’ inventories is a surprisingly popular pastime if the Roblox forums are anything to go by. Unfortunately, inventory spying became more difficult when the developers of Roblox added inventory privacy as a setting. Accessed from within the usual privacy settings in Roblox, you can control who gets to see what in your inventory. It’s a small change but one that stopped inventory tourism in its tracks.

To make your inventory private in Roblox, log into your account and select the cog menu. Select Settings and Privacy and set your inventory to your desired setting. Players who try to view your inventory will see a message saying “You cannot see this player’s inventory.”

Trading items in Roblox

One of the many ways to interact with other players in Roblox is trading. As long as you’re a Builders Club subscriber, you can trade items from within your inventory. You can also design and sell items too, but that’s worth a separate article in itself.

Trading is something of a uninvolved process where you visit the profile of the player you want to trade with, select the items and trade them. There is no in-game meeting or barter and no exchange animation. It’s all done through the inventory interface.

Select the player profile of the person you want to trade with.
Select the three dot menu icon in the top left of their page and select Trade Items.
Select the items you want to trade for within the popup window that appears.
Add your own items or Robux if you’re adding in-game currency.
Select Submit.

Once you add items to the trade window, you can hover the cursor over each to see any stats for it or to add or remove it from trade. Once you hit Submit, a message is sent to the other player for them to accept or reject that trade.

The ability to drop or trade items in Roblox helps keep your inventory fresh and manageable and is a cool way of getting new gear while getting rid of the old. It may take some time to become comfortable with managing your inventory, dropping items, and trading, but the effort is well worth it!
