You will have to move some files from you iPhone XS to a PC sooner or later. This smartphone is capable of taking beautiful high-resolution pictures and videos, so you are bound to use up the internal memory really quickly.

Using iTunes is one of the most common methods, but you don’t actually need this app to transfer your files. Take a look at some of the easiest ways to move files to your PC, with or without iTunes.
Moving Files Without iTunes
There are two simple transfer methods that don’t require you to install iTunes. These methods are particularly useful for Windows users, so feel free to check them out:
File Transfer with Windows Explorer
To transfer files with Windows Explorer, you need to connect your iPhone XS to the computer via a USB type-C cable. You might need to allow access to the phone by tapping on Trust This Computer in the pop-up window that appears on the smartphone.
1. Launch My Computer
Once the connection is established, click on My Computer to access your iPhone’s storage. Your iPhone XS should be located in the Portable Devices tab. Double-click on the phone to enter its storage.
2. Go to Internal Storage
For example, if you want to move photos from your iPhone, they can be found in the DCIM folder. The DCIM folder, like all other iPhone XS files, is in the Internal Storage. Just select all the files you want to transfer and paste them to the preferred destination on your computer. If you want to select multiple files, press and hold Control on your keyboard.
Pop-up Window File Transfer
As soon as you connect your iPhone XS to a PC, a pop-up menu will appear allowing you to choose from a list of actions. You might also need to enable the connection by clicking on Trust This Computer.
1. Click on View Content
To access all the files on your iPhone XS, you need to click on View Content. This option takes you to all transferable files that you can move to your PC, and you just need to select those that you want to move.
2. Copy/Paste the Files
After you’ve selected all the files that you want to move, just copy and paste them to a dedicated destination on your PC. Drag-and-drop option should work as well.
Moving Files with iTunes
iTunes is among the most useful tools for performing file transfers to a PC or Mac. If you don’t already have it on your computer, install the app first, then connect your iPhone XS via a USB type-c cable.
Find Your Device
The iTunes app will launch as soon as the connection is established. You need to click on the iPhone icon in the upper iTunes bar to access all the files on your phone.
Go to File Sharing
Click on the File Sharing menu and choose one of the apps that you want to move files from. Select the file you want to transfer and right-click to choose the desired transfer destination. You select the destination by clicking on Save To after your right-click.
The Last Transfer
Contrary to popular belief, moving files from your iPhone XS to a computer is not difficult, even for Windows users. However, if the methods listed above don’t satisfy your needs, you can try some of the third-party apps designed for this purpose. These apps even allow you to move files from your iPhone to an Android device, but you might need to pay for this option.
