It’s happened to a lot of us. You’re happily listening to your favorite music on Pandora when you accidentally “thumbs down” a song by mistake. It’s a problem because hitting thumbs down on Pandora basically means you’ll stop hearing that song permanently, as the service will take that as a signal not to play the song on that station for you again.

So, if you’ve accidentally given a song a thumbs down or have simply changed your mind about a track you didn’t particularly like before, don’t panic. Luckily, there is a way to undo it. We’ll take you through the steps required to undo a thumbs down in Pandora on your mobile device (iPad, iPhone, Android) or on your PC.
How to Undo a Thumbs Down in Pandora on a Mobile Device
The process for undoing a thumbs down is the same on all mobile devices. First, let’s look at how to do it on an iPhone.
How to Undo a Thumbs Down on an iPhone
If you’re actively listening to music on the Pandora app and have inadvertently thumbs-downed a track, stay calm. Here’s how to undo it.
- If the track is still playing, simply click on the orange downturned thumb icon to undo it.
- If several songs have passed, but your listening session is still in progress, scroll back through the tracks from left to right until the desired one appears.
- Click on the colored icon to undo the action.
In situations when you want to go back and clear a thumbs down from a track you heard several sessions before, it’s still possible as Pandora keeps a detailed log of your listening activity. But the process is a little bit different because you need to go back to the song’s station to change your rating.
- Launch the Pandora app on your iPhone.
- On the top part of the screen, find and tap “My Collection.”
- Select “Stations.”
- Go through it until you find the station of the song and click on it.
From here, the steps differ depending on whether you’re listening for free, using Pandora Plus, or using the Premium Service:
- For Premium users, once you’ve clicked on the station, go straight to its backstage page which stores all the thumbs you’ve given songs on that station.
- If you’re listening for free or use Pandora Plus, clicking on the station opens it up. To enter the backstage page, either touch the “Thumb” icon or find the small “i” icon at the top left of your screen and tap it to go backstage.
- On the backstage page, look for the small pencil-shaped “Edit” icon located beside your play button and click it.
