Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy J5 and J5 Prime don’t come with screen mirroring features. Mirroring and casting are not inherently supported by the OS, which means that you have to get creative if you want to watch something on your big screen TV.

Samsung SideSync

If you want to connect your smartphone to your PC, you can use the SideSync app. The app needs to be installed on both devices for screen mirroring to work.

You can install the app on your smartphone via the Google Play Store. To install it on your PC, you can simply visit the official Samsung website and get it from there.

There are two ways in which you can establish a connection. You can either use a USB cable or you can connect the two devices via Bluetooth.

Google Chromecast

Google Chromecast is a very useful tool no matter how new or old your device is. In order to use it as a middleman between your TV and your Galaxy J5, you have to install the app on your phone first.

After that, you have to make sure that your streaming device is properly connected. If you’re using the Chromecast App for the first time, you may also want to restart the Chromecast device in order to refresh the connection.

The Samsung Smart View doesn’t mirror your screen, which means it’s not the right choice if you want to use your big screen to play games or enjoy other apps. However, it does let you cast media files to your smart TV.

In a way, it turns your smart TV into an extension of your Galaxy J5 or J5 Prime. The app works with all smartphones that use an Android 4.1 or newer OS.

Although Smart View is advertised as a TV remote control feature, it can do a lot more than that. You can use it to cast any audio or video files. You can create playlists, schedule streams, and more.

In order to use this app, you have to install it on both the TV and smartphone. You can find it on the Google Play Store, the Samsung official website, and on Samsung Galaxy Apps.

To make it work, simply connect your devices to the same Wi-Fi network, start the app on your phone, and then follow the instructions.

Although the Galaxy J5 and J5 Prime smartphones lack a native screen mirroring feature, they can still be put to good use if you use third-party apps. Just make sure that your chosen app is compatible with your devices and that the phone’s OS is updated to the latest version.
