How To Setup Voicemail on the iPhone 6S
In 2017, there are so many things we can use out iPhones for. Some of us use them for shamelessly taking 100s of selfies, some might use it as a tool to navigate and tons of other simply use it as a way to surf the internet. Whatever you use it for, there is no arguing that iPhones are amazing devices that can do a lot.
With all the amazing different types our iPhone’s can do, we sometimes forget they are also a phone. While calling people isn’t nearly as common as it once was, it still happens and your phone still needs to be able to make and receive calls. However, there are bound to be times when you are not by your device when a call comes through. But instead of just missing the call entirely (which could be incredibly important), why not set up voicemail on your device. While it might sound like a daunting task, it really isn’t that bad or hard to create. However, if you are confused about how to set up voicemail on your iPhone 6S, worry no more. This article will go into how to set up your voicemail on your device with ease.
However, there are a few different “types” of a voicemail that you may be able to have on your device. One is a Visual Voicemail and the other is just a standard voicemail that you had on your landline a few years ago. Visual voicemail lets you physically see and play all of the voicemails, while regular is just done through the following audio prompts to hear your voicemails. Visual Voicemail is only offered throughout certain providers (and some might make you pat extra), so there is no guarantee that you will have it on your device.
Depending on what cellular provider you have and where in the world you are, the process may differ a little bit. Searches can likely be made to find the specific instructions for your specific provider. All in all, however, most of the set-ups are fairly similar and shouldn’t take very long at all. So without further ado, let’s take a look at the ways to set up your voicemail on the iPhone 6S.
Set Up Visual Voicemail on Your iPhone 6S
As mentioned earlier, before you try to set up visual voicemail, make sure you have it activated on your phone and that your carrier allows it. If your phone isn’t capable of using visual voicemail, then simply move on to the next method.
Step 1: Go into the Phone app, and then tap the voicemail tab.
Step 2: If your phone is able to use Visual Voicemail, you will see a Set Up Now button. If you don’t see this pop-up or your phone starts to call the voicemail, your phone will not be able to use Visual Voicemail at the moment. You can call your providers and see if you can get it if you want.
Step 3: Create a password, confirm it, and then press Done.
Step 4: You can either choose a Default greeting, or you can select Custom to record your own greeting.
Step 5: Tap Done to save your greeting, and officially setting up your Visual Voicemail.
Using this feature is easy as all of your voicemails show up in the menu and you can listen to them with ease, save them and of course, delete them.
Set Up Traditional Voicemail on Your iPhone 6S
So if you don’t have access to Visual Voicemail, you can still likely use the traditional kind of voicemail.
Step 1: Open your Phone app and then hit Voicemail in the bottom right of the screen.
Step 2: It will prompt a phone call to the voicemail service. Follow the prompts and do what the voice tells you too.
Step 3: Eventually, you will be asked to enter a password and record a greeting. Once all that is complete, your voicemail will be set up.
While this may seem a bit archaic compared to Visual Voicemails, it is still better than nothing. It may take a bit longer to listen to your voicemails, and you won’t have as much control over them as you would on a Visual Voicemail service, but is better than missing the call entirely.
If for some reason you are unable to use either type of voicemail and can’t seem to get it figured out for the life of you, it could be a good idea to contact your cell provider to see what your options are and why your voicemail might not be working.
