How to Use the Scope in PUBG

Certain shooting games like PUBG allow for players to aim down the sights (ADS) for more precision. You get a minuscule magnification increase and the use of iron sights or scopes to line up with your target. Scopes are wonderful for quick shooting or even precision shooting at longer ranges.

How to Use the Scope in PUBG

Do you need help learning how to use the scope in PUBG? In this article, you’ll read about the ins and outs of shooting with a scope. We’ll also answer some of the burning questions you might have.

How to Use Scope in PUBG?

To use a scope in PUBG, you need to find one first. All guns found on the floor have no attachments, so after you pick up a scope, you need to attach it to the gun. However, some guns can’t be equipped with scopes.

Some scopes can only go on certain guns, such as sniper scopes for sniper rifles. You need the right scope for the right situation as well since low-magnification scopes might not work as well as high-magnification scopes in long-range situations.

You can also carry one of each, switching scopes when you can. As you should have some space in your inventory, you can always carry an extra scope if you prefer.

Scopes can only be used from the first-person perspective. If you’re in third-person mode, you won’t be able to take advantage of the optics on your weapon. However, both perspectives have their advantages.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at how to use the scope in PUBG.

For PlayStation

By default, you use the scope on PS4 and PS5 by tapping the left trigger, or L2. Other FPS titles allow you to choose between toggle ADS or holding down the button. However, PUBG is different from these titles.

You have to hold down L2 to switch perspective and tap L2 to use a scope. This can be an annoying obstacle to mastering PUBG’s controls, but with practice, you can overcome it.

If you’re on a console, you can adjust the magnification for some scopes with R2 or RB. When you hold those buttons, use the left stick and move up to zoom in and down to zoom out.

These are the steps to using a scope in PUBG on PS4 and PS5:

  1. Get into a game on PUBG.
  2. When you land, find a gun or scope first.
  3. If you find a gun first, you can instantly attach a compatible scope you find on the ground.
  4. If you find a scope first, locate a gun and attach the scope to the gun from your inventory.
  5. Once your gun has a scope, tap L2.
  6. You should now be able to use the scope to aim at potential targets.
  7. Tap LT once again to exit ADS mode.

For Xbox

On Xbox One and Xbox X|S, you aim down the sights using the same button, though it’s called LT on the Xbox controller. You need to tap LT to use the scope, as holding LT is reserved for switching to a third-person view. People who are used to holding down for aiming need to adjust their muscle memory and habits.

Just like on PS4 and PS5, you can adjust the magnification level with RB and the left stick.

If you want to use the scope in PUBG for Xbox, take a look at the steps below:

  1. Get into a game on PUBG.
  2. When you land, find a gun or scope first.
  3. If you find a gun first, you can instantly attach a compatible scope you find on the ground.
  4. If you find a scope first, locate a gun and attach the scope to the gun from your inventory.
  5. Once your gun has a scope, tap LT.
  6. You should now be able to use the scope to aim at potential targets.
  7. Tap LT once again to exit ADS mode.

As long as you can train yourself to stop holding down LT to aim, PUBG shouldn’t be a problem.

For PC

On PC, you have the chance to use a mouse and keyboard or controller. Using a scope on PUBG PC with a controller is identical to the steps above. It’s when you use a mouse and keyboard that you need to adapt.

To aim down the scope, you need to right-click. If you have a multi-magnification scope, you need to scroll up or down to cycle between zoom levels. Once you’ve eliminated all the hostiles in the area, you just need to right-click again to exit ADS mode.

Just like on consoles, you need to be in first-person mode to use all scopes. Press “V” to switch perspectives.

On PUBG for PC, this is how you use a scope on a gun:

  1. Get into a game on PUBG.
  2. When you land, find a gun or scope first.
  3. If you find a gun first, you can instantly attach a compatible scope you find on the ground.
  4. If you find a scope first, locate a gun and attach the scope to the gun from your inventory.
  5. Once your gun has a scope, right-click once.
  6. You should now be able to use the scope to aim at potential targets.
  7. Right-click once again to exit ADS mode.

For PUBG Mobile

Mobile phones don’t have buttons to press (except for gaming phones). As such, most of you will have the ADS button on the screen. It will be on the right side of the screen by default.

Here’s how you use the scope on PUBG Mobile:

  1. Get into a game on PUBG.
  2. When you land, find a gun or scope first.
  3. If you find a gun first, you can instantly attach a compatible scope you find on the ground.
  4. If you find a scope first, locate a gun and attach the scope to the gun from your inventory.
  5. Once your gun has a scope, tap the crosshair button on the right.
  6. You should now be able to use the scope to aim at potential targets.
  7. Tap or let go to exit ADS mode.

On PUBG Mobile, you could set ADS to be tapped or held. It’s all up to preference, so pick what you like.

Tips for Sniping in PUBG

Sniping in PUBG can difficult, but with practice, you’ll get better at it. Here are some tips to help you snipe better:

• Adjust for bullet drop

• Account for scope drift

• Find a good spot for sniping

• Blend in with the environment

• Move often so you can’t be detected

• Preferably, use a bolt-action rifle

Accounting for bullet drop is very important. You need to get used to your weapons and account for it. This means that you’ll be aiming higher than your opponent’s actual position. If they’re right ahead, simply aim straight as bullet drop will be minimal.

Hitting a moving target is nearly impossible if you aim right at them. The bullets take far too long to hit, as they’re not hitscan like in other FPS titles. As such, you need to lead your shots to hit.

If an enemy is 100 meters away, lead your shots by a gap of one person, and at 200 meters, two people between your target and the scope. This might be different for every weapon, as all of them differ in bullet velocity.
