Changing the Resolution in VRChat
While using VRChat, you may want to change your screen resolution. Although not entirely difficult to change, you will need to make a few adjustments by typing in some command lines. It’s not just a few taps in your settings; fortunately, it’s a straightforward process. To learn how to do this, follow the steps below.:
- Sign in to your Steam account.
- Navigate to your Steam “Library” and select “VRChat.”
- Right-click on it and from the drop-down menu, choose “Properties.”
- You’ll need to type a command line in the “Launch Options” window. You have 3 different options:
- For 1080p, type “
-screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080”.
- For 720p, type “
-screen-width 1280 -screen-height 720”.
- For 4k, type “
-screen-width 3840 -screen-height 2160”.
- For 1080p, type “
- Close the box by tapping on the “X” in the upper-right corner.
- Launch VRChat.
Once you open VRChat, your screen resolution will have changed to the one you selected.
After you’ve made the appropriate change, you also have the option of tweaking VRChat’s graphic settings. Changes to these settings are minor, but you may find them to your liking. You are free to make adjustments to these settings and test them to see if they enhance your experience.
To adjust your VRChat graphic settings, do the following.
- Launch VRChat and open the “Menu.”

- Select “Performance Options.”

- By clicking on the “Left/Right” arrows, you can make your selections for “Graphics Quality” and “Multisample Antialiasing.”
Graphics Quality settings adjust several graphics profiles. Making adjustments to these settings generally won’t make any big differences in game quality or performance.
Multi-sample Antialiasing will adjust your anti-aliasing strength. Its default is 4x. Increasing its strength could affect VRAM usage. Decreasing or turning it off may increase performance.
