How To Connect a TCL TV to Wi-Fi

TCL has some Android TVs that make streaming shows and content a breeze. However, there are times when the Wi-Fi connection malfunctions. You may also be unsure how the TV connects to the internet.

There’s no need to worry. Besides learning how to connect it to Wi-Fi, you can find several ways to troubleshoot the lack of an internet signal here. Read on to learn more.

Connecting to Wi-Fi

Every TCL TV has a remote control in the package when you buy it. You’ll primarily be using it to control the user interface.

Turn on your TCL Android TV.
Press the home button.
Go to the Settings menu.
Choose “Network And Internet.”
Select the network you want to connect to.
Type the password.
Confirm your choice.

After several moments, the TV should have internet access. You can then watch YouTube videos or stream with Netflix. All the online entertainment you could want is now available.

Wi-Fi Not Working

You should perform some checks if the TCL TV doesn’t connect to the internet. Doing so may solve the problem.

Test the Internet Connection

Sometimes, the TV is positioned in a Wi-Fi signal dead zone. What this means is the signal can’t reach the TV easily. In this case, you can try moving the router closer and check if the TV manages to connect to the internet.

If your smartphone can access the internet without an issue even after this, it may be a problem with the TV’s Wi-Fi module. Don’t give up yet, because there are other solutions.

Check if You’re Using the Correct Password

Typing the password using a remote control can be slow and inefficient. You may have made a mistake. If so, you can try forgetting a network and reentering the password carefully. Should the attempt work, there’s nothing to worry about.

You’ll likely have to contact your internet service provider if there’s a complete lack of internet signal. They might send someone to check what’s going on with the connection.

If the TV is the only item that refuses to connect to the internet, something may be wrong with the internal parts.

Connecting to Wi-Fi Without a Remote

While the remote control is the default object you use to operate a TCL TV, there are other ways to connect the TV to the internet. The remote control isn’t completely necessary.

Use the Roku App and Mobile Hotspot

Unless you have unlimited data, we don’t recommend using the mobile hotspot permanently. It still helps you connect the TV to the internet, however.

Download and install the Roku app.
Start sharing a mobile hotspot with your smartphone.
Switch to the Roku app.
Connect the app to the TV.
Open the Settings menu.
Head to the network settings.
Select your home Wi-Fi network.
Connect the TV to the internet.

After doing so, you can immediately shut the hotspot off. You can also connect the TV to the internet through your phone hotspot, which may consume large amounts of your monthly data.

Use a Mouse and Keyboard

TCL TVs have USB ports, readily accepting wired or wireless USB mice and keyboards. The best options are wireless devices because you’ll be sitting farther away from the TV. You only have to plug them in and try using them.

If your mouse or keyboard doesn’t work, try reinserting it. You should use newer products, as these tend to be supported by the latest TVs.

Plug in your mouse and keyboard.
Look for the Settings menu.
Go to the network section.
Choose your Wi-Fi network.
Enter the password.
Connect to the internet.

It’s that simple. The mouse and keyboard combo is highly convenient and makes it easier to control the TV.
