Don’t panic if there is no sound on your Galaxy S8 or S8+. This issue is usually fixed with a few simple software tweaks. It may be as simple as inadvertently turning on one of the silent modes.

A minor bug or software glitch can also be the responsible culprit. In any event, you are usually a few steps away from getting the sound back on your phone.
Keep reading to find out how to troubleshoot and fix the issue.
Inspect the Volume Level
There is a possibility that the Volume on your Galaxy S8/S8+ is turned all the way down. That’s why you should check Sound Settings first.
1. Access Sound Settings
Swipe down from the top of the screen to access Quick Settings and hit the Volume key.
2. Reveal Volume Controls
When you see the Volume slider, hit arrow down to display all the volume controls.
3. Turn on Loud Mode
Move the sliders all the way to the right to turn on Loud mode.
Run a Speaker Test
Galaxy S8/S8+ is not prone to speaker issues but it wouldn’t hurt to make sure that the speakers are fine. Open the dialer and type: *#0*#. Follow the instructions on the screen. (The test shouldn’t take more than a few minutes.)
Disable Do Not Disturb
Do Not Disturb (DND) is the mode that completely shut off the sound on your phone and prevent calls from coming through. This mode also has a scheduling option so it can turn itself on.
1. Launch Settings
Tap on the Settings app on your Home screen and select Sounds and Vibration.
2. Toggle off DND
Swipe to Do Not Disturb under Sounds and Vibration and tap on the button next to DND to toggle it off.
3. Disable Scheduling
Hit Do Not Disturb (not the toggle) to enter the menu. Make sure the button next to Enable As Scheduled is toggled off.
Perform a Soft Reset
A soft reset means you are force-restarting your Galaxy S8/S8+. It removes some of the accumulated cached files and may fix minor software glitches.
To initiate the reset, press and hold Volume Down and Power. After a few seconds, you’ll see the Samsung logo on the screen and feel a vibration.
Toggle Off Bluetooth
If you paired your Galaxy S8 or S8+ with your Bluetooth headphones or speakers, the sound might get routed to them even when your phone isn’t connected. That’s known as a ghost connection, which you can overcome by disabling Bluetooth.
1. Hit Settings
Once you enter the Settings menu, tap on Connections to reach Bluetooth.
2. Select Bluetooth
Hit the switch next to Bluetooth to toggle it off and check if your sound is working.
When you need the Bluetooth, repeat the steps to toggle it back on.
To Wrap Up
Unless these methods fixed the sound, you can try updating the phone’s OS and apps. Or you might need to do a factory/hard reset. For the latter, remember to back up your phone.
