How to Get Venti in Genshin Impact

In Genshin Impact, the character Venti bursts onto the scene on a mysterious wind. As the Traveler, you first encounter the bard in Act 1 of the Archon Quest Prologue. After the brief cut scene, though, you won’t see him again until you progress the main story.

Who was this carefree boy with the power of song? How does he figure into the story?

If you’ve progressed through the main storyline far enough, you find out exactly who Venti is and how powerful he can be on the battlefield. The bigger question is: can you add him to your party?

How To Get Venti

If you have your sights set on adding Venti to your roster, there’s good news and bad news. The good news is that Venti was released as a playable character for two events:

• 9/28/2020 Ballad in Goblets, update 1.0
  
• 3/17/2021 Ballad in Goblets, update 1.4
  

Both events are over, though, so you can’t win Venti until Genshin Impact’s developers, miHoYo, decide to release his Wish Character Event banner again.

If miHoYo re-runs Venti’s character banner again, you’ll need Wishes, specifically Intertwined Fates. You can obtain Intertwined Fates in a variety of ways:

• Winning as rewards for quests
• As rewards for leveling up your Adventure Rank
• Making Crimson Agate offerings to the Frostbearing Tree
• Buying Fates via Primogems, Masterless Stardust, and Masterless Starglitter
• As an Event reward
• By converting Genesis Crystals into Primogems to buy Fates

When you have Wishes or Intertwined Fates for a Character Event banner, follow the steps below:

1. Launch the game.
2. Go to the main menu and select the Wish icon.
   
3. Press the tab at the top of the screen for the appropriate banner.
   
4. Select the button for “1 x Wish” or “10 x Wish” (for multiple pulls at once).
5. Confirm the action.
6. Cross your fingers and hope you get the character that you want.

You may have heard or seen questions about whether someone should “pull for [insert character here].” To clarify, the Genshin Impact Wish system doesn’t exactly let you narrow down who you can make a Wish or “pull” for.

For example, if miHoYo chooses to run Venti’s Character Event banner again, you’ll select the “Ballad in Goblets” tab to participate in the Wish event. These limited-time events usually feature one five-star character and three four-star characters. During the event, when you “pull” from this banner you have an increased chance of winning one of those featured characters, but you’re not guaranteed to win a specific one.

There is a 50% chance of winning the five-star character featured in the Character Event banner. However, that means there’s also an equal chance that you may receive a four-star character instead. Many players prefer to use the “10 x Wish” pull because they believe it will increase their chances of receiving the character of their choice, but it’s still not a guarantee that you’ll receive who you want.

Fortunately, the game has a “mercy system” that guarantees that players receive the Character Event banner five-star character after 89 unsuccessful pulls. It may be a bit disheartening to know that you can try 89 times and still not receive the titled banner character, but miHoYo rewards your perseverance and you’ll receive the character on the 90th pull.

Also, if you try to win the featured five-star character during a Character event and you couldn’t win them during the event duration, those attempts roll over to the next event. For example, let’s say you tried to win Klee during the 1.6 update event, “Sparkling Steps.” You “wished” or “pulled” 50 times for Klee but you didn’t receive her, so those 50 attempts would go towards the “mercy system” for the next event.

If the next event was Venti’s “Ballad in Goblets” Character Event banner, you only need 39 unsuccessful pulls – instead of 89 – to guarantee that you get him for your party.

Overview

Venti, or the “Tone-Deaf Bard” as Paimon likes to call him, is one of the first characters you see as your Traveler enters the land of Teyvat. This playable Anemo character looks like a young boy, but he has the power to soothe Stormterror – at least temporarily.

You find out more as you continue the Prologue of the Archon Quest main storyline. He’s actually the mortal vessel of one of The Seven. As the embodiment of Barbatos in Genshin Impact, he has a personal investment in the well-being of the people of Monstadt.

Venti has Anemo or wind-based attacks that can cut through any enemy. They include:

• Divine Marksmanship (normal attack) – consecutive bow shots, up to six
• Divine Marksmanship (charged attack) – increased damage with a precisely aimed shot
• Divine Marksmanship (plunging attack) – mid-air strike with a shower of arrows and AoE damage when striking the ground
  
• Skyward Sonnet (Elemental Skill) – deals AoE Anemo damage by summoning a Wind Domain
  
• Wind’s Grand Ode (Elemental Burst) – create a Stormeye with a single arrow that deals continuous damage and sucks opponents and objects into the center.
  

Charging or holding a Talent can deal even more damage on the battlefield.

Venti is a master of the winds, so it should come as no surprise that his passive Ascension talents are all Anemo-related.

The first Ascension, called “Embrace of Winds,” buffs his Elemental Skill. When you hold Skyward Sonnet, Venti’s up-current lasts for 20 seconds, giving him a vertical advantage over enemies.

“Stormeye” is Venti’s fourth Ascension skill. Now, using “Wind’s Grand Ode” can help buff Venti with 15 Energy when the skill dissipates. When he uses “Wind’s Grand Ode” with an Elemental Absorption, all party members involved with the Elemental Absorption also receive a restoration of 15 Energy.

 Venti’s Utility Passive also helps players who prefer to glide rather than walk. The “Windrider” buff allows you to glide to your heart’s content with a 20% decrease in gliding Stamina consumption.

What Is the Best Venti Build?

The best build depends on how you plan on using Venti in your party. For example, if you’re planning on using Venti for a support role, you’ll want to equip him with the Favonius Warbow or The Stringless. The first gives a boost to critical hits as well as a chance to generate an Elemental Orb. The second bow buffs Elemental Skill from 24% to 48%, depending on how many times you upgrade it.

Support role Venti could benefit from Viridescent Venerer artifacts that boost Anemo damage with two or increases Swirl damage with all four parts. Alternatively, you can also equip Venti with The Exile artifact set to recharge his Energy.

If you want to use Venti as a damage-dealing sniper, look for the Sharpshooter’s Oath or the Compound Bow. Both increase ATK damage, but the Compound Bow has a few extra surprises like increased ATK speed.

For a sniper Venti build, you need to get your hands on the Wanderer’s Troupe artifact set. Equipping two artifacts increases his Elemental Mastery by 80 points while having all four can buff Charged Attacks by up to 35%.

Players who want a combination of support and damage-dealing builds can equip Venti with a Royal Bow or The Stringless. As mentioned before, The Stringless can increase Elemental Skill Burst damage by up to 48%. The Royal Bow, on the other hand, focuses on critical hit damage. The more the enemy is damaged, the higher the critical rate increases. Critical rates increase by 8% and can stack up to five times.

Artifacts for a mixed Venti are a little up in the air.

If you want to focus on his Anemo damage, go with a Viridescent Venerer set. Otherwise, you can equip Venti with two parts of a couple of sets: Gladiator’s Finale or Berserker. The Berserker artifacts will buff Vent’s critical rate by 12% and Gladiator’s Finale increases his ATK by 18%. Either one is adequate for a Venti build that doesn’t focus on one area.

How Rare Is Venti?

Venti, like many five-star playable characters in Genshin Impact, is only available with his Character Event banner. However, his rarity may be up for debate because his banner has already been featured twice (initial release and re-run). Some five-star characters haven’t gotten a banner re-run yet, making Venti rare but not as rare as other characters.

Venti’s Wish character event may be over, but keep your fingers crossed. He’s a very popular character and fans have been clamoring for another return.
