Thankfully, yet again, there’s an AI for that. Today, we’re going to be looking at Renamer.ai, the file organizing and renaming app that’ll keep things consistent. Let’s get started.

Features
If the name doesn’t give it away, nothing will. Renamer.ai renames files, using its own AI algorithms. You simply upload your files, the tool reads them, renames them, and you can download them once again.
How does it know what to rename the file? Scraping. The tool reads the information in the file and uses its algorithms to decide the best name for the file. OCR and image recognition play a big role here.
The tool has most of its best features available only in the downloadable app. These include:
- Bulk Renaming – Choose a pre-existing template for file renaming or create your own, then let the app do its thing.
- Magic Folders – Designate a folder on your machine for background conversion while you work on other tasks.
- Multi-File Support – Renamer.ai can rename and organize a truly dizzying range of file extensions, from raw text to PDFs and various image formats.
- Multiple Languages – Though it might not have all the languages supported yet, 24 languages are currently supported and can be detected by the app.
The app does falter in terms of consistency. While other file renamers allow users to choose specific words and numbers to add to every file they are bulk converting, Renamer.ai provides no such features. Image renaming as well can sometimes be frustratingly vague (i.e., portrait_of_girl.jpg doesn’t narrow things down). Where this approach does work is for files you need to give a name for quick reference further down the line. Renamer.ai is great for renaming, but less so for structured organizing.
User Friendliness
Renamer.ai keeps things simple, the web tool ridiculously so. All that’s needed is to drag, drop, wait, and download. The more advanced features (like templates) are reserved for the free-to-download app for Mac and Windows. This too has a straightforward and approachable design, using presets and simple categories to help beginners and the experienced alike along.
For advanced users, there might not be enough customizability here, but for your average conversion job, it’s more than up to the task.
Security
Uploading any document to the web, especially an AI tool, can have users worried about privacy concerns. Both the Renamer.ai app and the site boast “enterprise-level” encryption (though they never specify what type) and do not store files longer than 30 days. Renamer.ai reads files in order to rename them properly and deletes them afterward.
Pricing
Renamer.ai is one of those tools that offers users a free tier. Although it is limited to 15 files per month, you still have access to every feature that’s also in the three paid tiers (Pro, Power User, and Ultimate). The only thing that changes is the price and the number of files you can convert. This gives users a generous taste of things, including the app, before committing to being a subscriber.
