Not Receiving Texts on the iPhone 6S? - Here's What To Do

In fact, there could be a number of different reasons why you are not getting messages all of a sudden. Thankfully, there is also a number of different things that you can do to try and fix this issue. While they are not guaranteed to work, these tips have worked for people in the past and could work again. However, if nothing included in this article helps restore your ability to receive messages, it could be a good idea to contact your cell phone provider or Apple themselves. So without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the things you can try if you are not receiving texts on the iPhone 6S.

Restart Your Device

The first thing you should try is to simply restart your device. This has solve countless issues for thousands of people over the years, and it could possibly solve this issue for your iPhone 6S. To restart your device, all you need to do is hold down the on/off button and the Power button together at the same time until the phone turns off and then the Apple logo reappears. If this doesn’t make you be able to get text messages again, then move on to the next tip.

Make Sure Your Network Connection/Wifi Connection is Solid

If you are in an area with a bad cellular connection or weak wifi, there is a chance that the receiving and sending of messages might be a bit spotty. They could be delayed, or may never send or be received at all. So if you are experiencing any issues in getting messages, make sure you have at least a few full dots of service in the upper left-hand side of the screen, and make sure your wifi bar is at least two-thirds full. If your wifi is weak or the cell connection is equally as week, that could be the reason why you aren’t getting messages. Once you return to a good wifi or network connection, they shoudl start arriving. If they don’t, then move on to another possible solution.

Reset Network Settings

While it is pretty annoying to have to reset your network settings (as you will have to enter all your wifi passwords again), it is sometimes necessary to do. Resetting them has been known to correct things for certain people when they are experiencing issues with calls, messages or wifi being spotty. All you have to do is tap Settings, then General, then Reset and then finally hit the Reset Network Settings button. It shouldn’t take you more than a few seconds to do and should hopefully help you to be able to get text messages again.

Try Turning off LTE

This is a little trick that has worked for some people. The reason why is because LTE can sometimes cause messages to not be received. The reason for this is because when LTE isn’t stable, the phone can get confused between the internet and data service you are using. Turning it off and on might work, but there is also a good chance that you could try leaving it off for a while and just use the 4G/3G networks. All you have to do for this option is to tap the Settings app, followed by Cellular, and then tap on LTE and either totally turn it off or select “Data Only”,

Restore Your iPhone 6S

This should only be used as a last result, and as long as you have a backup saved for your device. The reason this should be your last thing to try is that it will basically take your device back to factory settings. This will get rid of everything on your device, unless you have some kind of a backup. In order to restore your device back to factory settings, all you have to do is go to Settings, then General, then Reset. Once in that menu, go down to Erase all Content and Settings and click it. After a few minutes, you will able to set up your phone again like new, or load a backup.

If that doesn’t work, you are fairly out of luck when it comes to things you can do on your own. As mentioned early in the introduction, be sure to contact your cell phone provider or Apple if you are unable to start getting texts again. It could be a deeper issue which would require additional steps to fix. However, in most cases, one of the various possible fixes within this app should help.
