Microsoft’s OneNote is an organizational tool that operates like a digital notebook. This note-taking app provides a digital location for all of your notes, lists, research, and more. Endless collections of thoughts and ideas can be kept and shared without ever using a sheet of paper. One way to make OneNote even more useful is with templates to help you organize your notes.

Here’s everything you need to know about OneNote templates.
What Is a OneNote Template?
Templates help to structure your notes and can turn your notes into calendars, letters, resumes, etc. They help you to organize things so that you can think about the content of your notes and let someone else worry about the layout design. Templates can be used just as they come or be customized to fit your exact needs. There are also tools to create your own template from scratch.
Where to Find OneNote Templates
Auscomp

Auscomp is an excellent source for OneNote templates. The pre-made templates include both free and “PRO” options which can be purchased. If you plan to use many different templates, Auscomp offers a lifetime access pass which is a one-time fee for access to all of their templates. Some interesting options on this site are project management tools and productivity maximizers to really expand the tool’s abilities.

Notegram is simple to use because it is tailored for Microsoft OneNote. All you need to do is sign in to Microsoft, and you can save lots of templates for free. If you’re looking for an easy way to try out a template, this is it.
OneNote Gem

OneNote Gem offers a few templates and add-ons specializing in calendars and lists. This site doesn’t have as many options, but those options are useful.
Etsy

Surprisingly, Etsy has an extensive collection of hand-crafted OneNote templates. The calendar and planner options rival the fanciest paper planners. Etsy has creative teacher resource options as well as professional meeting organizers. If you’re willing to spend a little money on the perfect template, Etsy is the place to look.
Onetastic

You may come across Onetastic in lists for OneNote templates. Onetastic isn’t for templates per se, but rather for using macros to enhance the functionality of OneNote. Macros are blocks of code that run like a program to execute specific tasks. Planners and calendars can be made with these macros, so Onetastic can be helpful for OneNote users.
Types of OneNote Templates
The possibilities for templates are endless. Below is a list of ideas for OneNote templates:
- Journal – Keep your thoughts and feelings secure on your digital device by using a journal template.

- Checklist – Making a list to plan for a trip? Or a grocery list before you head to the store? Maybe you’re brainstorming ideas for your next book. A checklist template is the perfect way to keep track of any list of information.
- Planner – If you need to keep all of your life details in one place, and want to save some trees and skip the paper and ink, make your OneNote into a digital planner. It’s easy to coordinate every area of your life when it’s all in one place.
