How to Uninstall Discord

If you no longer use Discord, or if you want to reinstall it, the logical first step to take is to remove the app from your device. No matter which device you want to remove Discord from, the uninstallation process takes no more than a couple of quick steps. Once the app is uninstalled, you also need to remove any residual folders and cache left on your device.

The process of uninstalling Discord is different on each device. If you want to remove Discord from your tablet or mobile phone, the process is identical to how you would delete any other app. However, if you want to uninstall Discord on your PC, it requires a couple of additional steps.

How To Uninstall Discord on a Mac

Here’s how you can uninstall Discord on your Mac. Before you remove the app, make sure it isn’t running in the background, as it could slow down the uninstallation process.

Press “Shift + Command + A” to open the “Applications” folder.
Find Discord in the “Applications” folder and click on it.
Drag the icon to the trash can in the bottom-left corner of your screen.
When you’ve removed it, click “Empty Trash.”

You’re not done yet. Once you have removed Discord, you also have to remove any residual cache or files. Here’s how it’s done:

Launch the Finder app.
Click “Go” on the top toolbar.
Find “Go to Folder…” on the drop-down menu.
In the pop-up tab, type in “~/Library” and click on “Go.”
You can look for the remaining cache in different folders. Type in “~/Library/Caches” or “~/Library/Application Support.”

If you find any Discord folders, click on them and drag them to the trash can just like you did with the Discord app.

How To Uninstall Discord in Windows 10

Uninstalling Discord on Windows 10 generally consists of three steps. First, you need to disable the app on Task Manager, followed by the process of uninstalling the app. When you’re done, you also need to remove any remaining cache left by the app.

Here’s how to disable Discord on Task Manager.

Press “Ctrl + Shift + Esc” on your keyboard to launch Task Manager.
Click on the “Startup” tab on the top toolbar.
Find Discord and highlight it.
Go to “Disable” in the bottom-left corner of your screen.

Find Discord on the list of apps.
Choose “Uninstall” in the upper-left corner of your screen.
Confirm that you want to delete the app by tapping “OK.”

Another way you can uninstall apps on an Android device is with your Google Play store. Here’s how it’s done:

Open Google Play.
Tap on your profile picture in the upper-right corner of your screen.

If none of these methods are working, and you still can’t uninstall Discord from your device, then there is one more thing you can do – remove Discord from the registry. Here’s how it’s done:

1. Press “Start + R” on your keyboard.

2. Enter “regedit” in the box and click on “OK.” This will open the registry editor.

3. Press “Ctrl + F” on your keyboard and type in “Discord.”

4. Find the Discord folder on the left sidebar.

In some cases, when you try to launch Discord, it won’t open and an “error” notification pops up. This is what you should do to restore the app:
