How To Use a Teleporter in Terraria

In Terraria, a Teleporter can help you transport your character from one location to another with no travel limit. It’s a foreground object that’s not only useful for transporting, but for switching locations between players. If you want to build a Teleporter in Terraria, it will only take a few seconds, and even less time is required to use it.

How To Use a Teleporter in Terraria

In this article, we’ll talk about how to build and use a Teleporter in Terraria. In addition, we’ll go through the process of using the Teleport Potion and how to do these things in the mobile game.

Using the Teleporter

When players want to move to another location instantly, they can use a Teleporter. It’s a foreground mechanism that helps players travel from one point to another. As opposed to the majority of foreground objects in this game, which prevents the player from moving, a Teleporter is a non-block foreground object.

To obtain a new item in Terraria, you must find it, build it from materials you collect or buy, or earn it by defeating an enemy. When it comes to Teleporters, you will need to buy them from the Steampunker.

The Steampunker is a non-playable character (NPC) from whom you can purchase various items. Note that the Steampunker is a Hardmode character, but you can also summon this NPC in a pre-Hardmode world. To do this, you need to defeat a mechanical boss, the Destroyer, the Twins, or Skeleton Prime. You don’t need to defeat all three of them; one mechanical boss will do. It’s also necessary to have a suitable empty house if you want to spawn the Steampunker.

Keep in mind that you will need to buy two Teleporters. You’ll need some tools and wiring to build your Teleporter. The wire is necessary for you to link the two Teleporters, while a triggering mechanism can be a Switch or a Pressure Plate. You can choose the color of the wire, but this won’t impact the Teleporter’s ability to transport you to the other base.

Once you summon the Steampunker, here’s what you need to build a Teleporter.

  1. Find the Mechanic.
  2. Choose a wrench from the shop (blue, green, yellow, or red).
  3. Buy two Switches or two Pressure Plates.
  4. You need to buy 1 Wire Cutter and enough Wires to connect the teleporters.
  5. Go to the Steampunker.
  6. Click on the “Shop” option in the pop-up box.
  7. Buy two teleporters.

It will cost you two gold and fifty silver coins for one Teleporter. The good news is that Teleporters are always available, unlike other items that can’t always be found. Once you have all the materials and tools you need for a Teleporter, let’s see how you can build and use one.

  1. Find a stop where you will place the Teleporter. It must be a surface of solid blocks.
  2. Place the second Teleporter anywhere you want.
  3. Connect them using the wire.
  4. Place the triggering devices on both Teleporters.
  5. Right-click on both triggering mechanisms to activate them.
  6. Step on the Teleporter.

That’s all there is to it. You will immediately be transported to the second base by just stepping on the Teleporter. Using a Teleporter in Terraria will move you to the desired location within one second. You won’t have to deal with load time, and you won’t have to spend extra coins or Mana (magic weapons). However, as useful as Teleporters are, they also leave open portals for other players, NPCs, and enemies.

You can link one Teleporter to multiple destinations, but you should use different-colored wires for two possible destinations. Since there are four color options for the wire, it’s possible to create eight destinations for one Teleporter. If you connect three or more Teleporters to one wire color, and if an NPC or an enemy steps on one Teleporter, they will be taken to whichever Teleporter is the farthest.

What’s also convenient about Teleporters is that you can pass through one even if you are three tile heights above it. The same applies to Teleporters that are buried two tiles deep. Note that if you enter the Teleporter three tile heights above, that’s exactly how you will arrive at the destination.

There are some limitations on the travel distance on the Nintendo 3DS version, the Windows Phone version, the old-generation console version, and the old Chinese version of the game. If you’re using any of these versions, you’ll only be able to travel a distance of 2,000 tiles.

Terraria How to Use Teleport Potion

The Teleport Potion is otherwise known as a Wormhole Potion in Terraria. You can only use the Wormhole Potion in the multiplayer mode because it allows you to transport from your location to another team member’s location. You can technically collect a Wormhole Potion in a single-player game, but it will be useless.

The main difference between a Wormhole Potion and a Teleporter is that you need friends to use the potion. Teleporters, on the other hand, can be used whenever you want and are always available. You can only use the Wormhole Potion to transport members of the same team. There is no travel distance for Wormhole Potions.

To make a Wormhole Potion, you need three ingredients: Bottled Water, a Specular Fish, and a Blinkroot. These three ingredients will only be enough for one Wormhole Potion. A crafting station is also required, which can either be a Placed Bottle or an Alchemy Table. It’s sometimes possible to find a ready-made Wormhole Potion in a chest in the caverns layer. You can also receive a Wormhole Potion from a bonus drop from a slime, the most common type of enemy in Terraria.

Like all other potions in Terraria, the Wormhole Potion is consumable. However, you can’t interact with it like you would with other potions. If you’re interested in how to use a Wormhole Potion in Terraria, this is what you need to do.

  1. Open the map
  2. Find the friend you want to teleport to on the map.
  3. Click on their icon.

You’ll immediately be transported to that team member, even if you didn’t “consume” the potion beforehand. The potion will be removed from your inventory and you’ll have to make a new one if you want to travel to another location.

As previously explained, you can’t use the Wormhole Potion with players who aren’t a part of your team. It’s also not possible to use this potion to teleport to a player who has disabled their mini-map. You can, however, teleport to a player who isn’t online at the moment.

Wormhole Potions aren’t only useful in situations when you want to teleport to another player. You can also use them during boss fights. It would be very useful in the Wall of Flesh fight, where the boss is restricted to one location.

How to Use Teleporters in Terraria Mobile

Terraria is available on Google Play and the App Store. If you want to play Terraria on an Android device, you can’t disable the touch UI, but you can play it with a USB keyboard.

If you want to build and use Teleporters in the mobile version, you would do it using the same method as for the computer version. The only thing that’s different is the controls. But once you get the hang of them, they’re easy to use.

To build a Teleporter, you will need to buy all the necessary tools from the Steampunker. Like in the PC version, you need to defeat a mechanical boss to spawn the Steampunker. Once this NPC arrives, this is what you need to do.

  1. Use the control pad on the bottom-left side of the screen to go to the Steampunker.
  2. Tap on the “Shop” option on the pop-up message.
  3. Find a Teleporter in the shop and tap it twice to buy two.
  4. Find the Mechanic.
  5. Buy a wire and two triggering mechanisms. It can be a Switch or a Pressure Plate.
  6. Place the first Teleporter anywhere you want.
  7. Put one triggering mechanism on the Teleporter.
  8. Put the second triggering mechanism on the second Teleporter.
  9. Connect them with the wire.
  10. Activate both triggering mechanisms.

Now, all you need to do is use the controls to navigate to the first Teleporter and stand over it. It will automatically transport you to the second base.

While you can use Teleporters in the mobile game, the Wormhole Potion is not available in the mobile app.
