There are many preset clocks to choose from in Wallpaper Engine. Once you choose a clock, you can tailor it any way you like. It will take you just a few minutes to enhance your desktop with a fantastic clock.

Here’s how to add a clock to your Windows desktop Wallpaper Engine background:

  1. Tap the “Add Asset” option (at the top left side of the screen).
  2. Select “Clock.”
  3. Click “OK.”

Once you confirm your selection, the clock will immediately display on your desktop. You can begin making changes using the 3D handles.

Start by arranging these clock settings:

  1. Move the clock where you want it positioned on the screen.
  2. Adjust the angle or rotate it, if needed.
  3. Increase or decrease the clock size in proportion to your screen.

Keep rearranging the elements until you’re satisfied with how they look and then save your changes. However, the clock will not start running until you turn it on and after completing the customization.

Changing the Text on a Wallpaper Engine Clock

A Property Manager menu will appear on the right side of the screen as soon as you choose a clock. It will help you to individualize the elements of your clock.

Individual elements in Wallpaper Engine are referred to as “assets.” The assets are added in layers, but you can choose the order of the layers. The clock one is a text layer asset that lets you change its special properties.

Here’s how to change the font properties on your clock:

  1. Tap “Font” in the properties options.
  2. Select a font from the drop-down menu.
  3. Use the slider to adjust the size of the font.
  4. Click “OK.”

Now, you are a few steps from customizing your clock. Make changes to these elements from the property editor:

  • The font color
  • Clock opacity
  • Background opacity
  • Name your clock
  • Standard or military time configuration

Once the basic settings are completed, you can tap the “Run Scripts” option at the top of the editor to start it. Double-check the time is accurate on your computer because that is the time the clock will reflect.

Sharing a Clock

Wallpaper Engine allows its users to share clocks and other assets. However, the Asset Creation option must be enabled to share a clock. This option is hidden by default to avoid confusing new users trying to publish wallpaper.

To share your clock, take these steps to enable Asset Creation:

  1. Open the “View” menu.
  2. Tap “Enable Asset Creation.”
  3. Select “Elements.”
  4. Choose “Clock” under the “Share” option.

If you are new to Wallpaper Engine, the Asset Creation option will be challenging to use. You can leave it hidden until you get more experience with the image editor.

Advanced Clock Options

Wallpaper Engine offers a range of preset clock options. There are plenty of effects to choose from to make your wallpaper pop from day one. But if you are a more advanced user, you can write a script to create dozens of dazzling clock behaviors, which include:

  • Reactions to time like daylight or night time.
  • External images or sound effects for your clock.
  • Creating interactive particle effects.
  • Disabling the clock for specific periods.
  • Hiding unneeded property options.

SceneScript is the custom scripting language featured on Wallpaper Engine. The language is similar to JavaScript and is based on the specifications of ECMAScript.

Wallpaper Engine for iOS

Currently, Wallpaper Engine is only available for Android and Windows operating systems. According to the Wallpaper Engine website, no plans to support other platforms are in the works. The company states that adding Linux or Mac OS support is not economically feasible at this time.
