WATCH: Tesla’s latest Easter egg brings Rainbow-charging to the Model S and Model X

Tesla really has a habit for putting Easter eggs in its electric cars. Earlier this year, we found out Elon Musk had slipped a Mario Kart-inspired ‘Rainbow Road’ setting into the dashboard of the Tesla Model S and Model X – and now the rainbow fun extends the charging point.

That’s right. The latest version of Tesla’s software comes with a ‘Rainbow-infused’ charging Easter egg, that lets users top up their electric car in glorious technicolour. To enable the Easter egg, all Model S and Model X owners have to do is put their Tesla on charge, make sure it’s locked and charging – and then press the charging button ten times. How that was discovered I don’t know.

You can check the feature out in the videos below. Because the European and US versions of Teslas use different charging types, the feature works differently depending on where the car’s from. US users get a multicoloured ring around the charging port, while we get three changing LED lights.

And here’s what it usually looks like.
