How mush is a name change in IMVU?

Before you start making any changes, there are several requirements you have to meet:

• You need to have a registered avatar name.

• The desired avatar name needs to be unique (i.e., two accounts can’t share the same name).

• There needs to have been at least seven days since your last username update.

• You have enough Name Change Tokens.

Name Change Tokens are essential if you want to change your Avatar name. You can get them from the IMVU store. Here’s how to do it:

1. Log in to your IMVU account.

2. Open the “Credits” tab in the menu bar above.

3. Choose “Buy Credits” from the drop-down menu.

4. Click the little check box next to the “Get a New Name” upgrade. Underneath the text, you’ll see the price. It’s usually around $12.99 unless there’s a special offer.

5. Choose a payment plan. There are several options available. You can use your credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, JCB) or Pay Pal. Select “More Payment Options” for an alternative method.

6. Click “Checkout.”

7. A new window will appear. Enter the required billing information. Check the little box in the bottom-left corner to save your credit card number.

8. Click the “Process Store” button in the upper-right corner.

You can also buy credits using your mobile phone. The IMVU purchase will be included in your phone bill at the end of the billing cycle. It’s a quick and painless method that only takes a few steps:

1. Visit the www.imvu.com/store/phone/ web page.

2. Click on the little downward arrow to open a drop-down menu. Choose your country from the list.

3. Next, select the number of credits you want to purchase. Click on the “Buy” button under the offer that suits you.

4. Type your phone number in the corresponding field. Confirm with “Continue.”

5. IMVU will send you a text message with a confirmation PIN. Go back to the store page and enter the four digits.

6. To complete the process, click “Purchase.”

There’s no limit to how many Name Change Tokens you can buy. However, you can’t use the same credit repeatedly. That’s why you should always keep track of the number of tokens in your account. Here’s how:

1. Open your account page.

2. Navigate to the menu bar at the top of the page. Open the “Account Tools” tab.

3. Select “Change Avatar Name” from the drop-down options menu. A notification will appear containing the number of available tokens.

IMVU used to have the option to transfer Name Change Tokens from one account to another. However, since September 2016, it’s no longer allowed.

One of the few instances where you don’t have to use NC Tokens is to upgrade to a Premium Name. It’s a relatively recent feature that enables you to create unique avatar names with three characters or less. Premium names are also priced differently:

• For a two-character username, you need to have 500,000 Credits.

• For a three-character username, it’s 300,000 Credits.

• Premium Names with more than three characters are available for 150,000 Credits.

If that sounds appealing to you, here’s how to get a Premium Name:

1. Open your IMVU account page.

2. Click on the “Shop” tab in the menu bar above.

3. Choose “Premium Name” from the options menu.

4. Follow the instructions and fill in the necessary information.

What’s in a Name

IMVU allows you to change your username as many times as you like, as long as you have the appropriate amount of credits. The so-called Name Change Tokens come with a set of requirements. However, once you fulfill them, there’s no limit to how many you can buy.

Although there’s an IMVU Mobile app available for iOS and Android devices, you can only use it to edit your Display Name. Luckily, you can work around that and access your account page via the web browser app. Of course, the easiest way to go about it is to use your computer.
