Photo Fun Without the Learning Curve
Right from the outset, NovaFlick explicitly makes clear who it’s designed for. To quote the landing page: “For busy moms, style lovers, and anyone who wants pro photos fast.” NovaFlick is designed for moms, fashionistas, and those looking to be inspired and entertained. As such, it’s a tool with a ton of features to play around with and not a whole lot of options to distract or perplex. This isn’t a bad thing either.
Sometimes you might want an image editing tool that takes care of the busywork and offers enough presets to keep you busy for a while. The tool allows you to upload any number of selfies and pics to play around with. Speaking of features, the main ones on offer include:
- Image enhancement and editing tools – Using text input and presets, you can enhance image resolutions, remove backgrounds and objects, and switch up colors.
- Entertaining ideas – Turn your child’s drawings into detailed artworks, see yourself in 20 years from now, turn your face into a sticker, and swap hairstyles.
- Fashion – Combine your uploaded selfies with outfits you’d love to try on and see whether or not you can pull that look off. There’s even a tool that lets you try cosplay.
- Restyle – Want to see what you or a loved one looks like as PVC figures, 2D graphics, or traditional Chinese paintings? There’s a chance to pick styles.
Not the Most Complex Tool
NovaFlick is a fun tool to breathe life into old photos and try out new ideas, but don’t expect the complexity of photo editing software or more advanced AI image generators. Options for re-editing are limited to text prompts, and the list of settings for image generation is slim to non-existent. This isn’t a bad thing if you’re a casual user, but don’t expect unparalleled control.
Not All Features Are Created Equal
NovaFlick varies in its quality from tool to tool. Age progression, for example, can stray away from your likeness pretty quickly, while making your selfie sillier in editing mode can yield some excellent results. Sometimes the tool strays pretty far from the source material, and other times follows it quite closely.
There is also a quibbling issue with the amount of spelling and grammatical errors present on the site, which does undermine the overall quality of the site.
Again, the issue comes back to control. If you aren’t too invested in the results, then the quality won’t matter as much.
Pricing
Like most image generators, NovaFlick AI runs off a paid subscription and credits. There is a free tier that requires an account and will give you 200 credits to start. Each generation (and regeneration) will cost 25 credits. We found, however, that this free tier only offers 100 credits before pushing for a sign-up, and never shows your current credit balance. Rather sneaky. The paid tiers – Pro ($9.99) and Pro Max ($29.99) per month – allow for watermark removal and more advanced features.
