Fortnite: How to Get Alien Parasite Off Head

Aliens began to make appearances in Fortnite when Chapter 2: Season 7 launched, introducing new mechanics and lore. One of the unique animals that players can now encounter is the Alien Parasite.

These creatures like attaching themselves to other living beings, and while they bring players some advantages, others might not like them attached to their heads.

Thankfully, there are a few ways to get the Alien Parasite off your head. Keep on reading to find out which one may work best for you.

How to Get an Alien Parasite Off Your Head in Fortnite

Before we get into the methods, we’ll discuss why some players may want to think twice before detaching them. Alien Parasites offer some advantages if you let them stay, but these advantages come with a cost.

For starters, having an Alien Parasite on you will give you the following benefits:

• Increased head protection

These Alien Parasites attach themselves to your head. While it may look unsightly, they also protect you from fatal headshot damage. Note that you can still get taken out by headshots, but enemies have to land more of them to be fatal.

• Increased movement speed and jump height

You’ll find yourself running faster and jumping higher, allowing you to get the upper hand when movement becomes crucial. However, you’re not immune to fall damage, which can still kill you instantly.

Conversely, having an Alien Parasite on your also reduces your Health by 25, which leaves you at 175 Health including Shields. It’s true that you’ll be less vulnerable to headshots and can move faster, but you must take care and not get hit. Thankfully, the increased movement speed can help with that.

Now that you know what these aliens are capable of, we can move on to the several Alien Parasite removal methods.

Jumping Into a Body of Water

The best way to get rid of these small alien creatures is to go on a swim. They’re not fans of cooling off in the water, so they immediately detach themselves. You should swim away after they escape, though, as they can reattach themselves if you’re too close to them.

Getting wet is the best method because you won’t take any damage from taking a dip in the water. Additionally, the current map has rivers, ponds, and lakes all over the island. You wouldn’t run out of places to get rid of them unless you landed somewhere landlocked.

Get Hit

Taking some damage will also cause the Alien Parasite to flee. Fire is the best way to inflict damage, and you won’t risk killing yourself instantly. After you get the parasitic lifeform away from your head, you should heal somewhere safe to prevent enemies from taking advantage of your lower Health.

Enter a Prop

No matter the prop, entering it will cause the Alien Parasite to detach. You can use any dumpster or Porta-Potty littered around the island. Water is still the best method, but if you’re too far from the rivers, look for a prop to hide in instead.

Abduction

Abductors are flying saucers that players can encounter around the island. When the first circle begins forming, they’ll find nearby players and abduct them. Abducted players will find themselves on The Mothership, and while escape is possible, they’ll need powerful weapons to do it.

If you’re not willing to let an Abductor take you away, we recommend using the other methods. Getting abducted will remove the Alien Parasite on your head, but not everyone is keen on participating in the Experiment.

Players can always see where Abductors are on the map. If you want to get taken to The Mothership while ridding yourself of the Parasite, approach one when the tell-tale circle begins to form.

Activate an Inflate-a-Bull

The Inflate-A-Bull is an item introduced in Chapter 2: Season 7 as well. It prevents fatal fall damage until the gauge runs out.

This device also allows players to bounce across the map rapidly. The more momentum you have, the farther you launch. As a bonus, any Alien Parasite attached to you is forced to detach itself. This effect is possible because an Inflate-A-Bull is practically a bouncy balloon covering your character.

Do I Want Alien Parasites on Me?

In Week 5 of Season 7, a quest involves getting an Alien Parasite on you and talking to Sunny, an NPC. Here’s how it goes:

1. Get into a Fortnite match.
2. Find an Alien Parasite and let it attach to you.
   
3. With the help of its buffs, head towards Believer Beach.
   
4. Sunny can be found near the circular symbols in the sand on Believer Beach.
   
5. Talk to her to complete the quest.

While talking to Sunny, she’ll teach you how to get these creatures off you. It may not be new information to you, but you can choose to remove the Alien Parasite or keep it for the game after this interaction.

Finding Alien Parasites

The easiest way to find Alien Parasites is to listen to the environment’s sounds. These creatures love attaching themselves to the island’s native wildlife, including Boars, Chickens, and Wolves. Some Henchmen also have Parasites on them.

If you hear animals around you, shoot them. Their Alien Parasites will migrate onto your head soon after. This phenomenon also applies to Henchmen, other players, and other characters on the map.

Here is a list of locations that are confirmed to be Alien Parasite spawns:

• The Durrr Burger’s basement
• The bridge under Retail Row
• Close to the Guardian of the Fields
• Hydro 16
• Holly Hatchery
• Craggy Cliffs
• The Aftermath
• Lazy Lake
• Weeping Woods
• Nearby Corny Complex
• Around the Red Steel Bridge
• Compact Cars

These areas have Parasite eggs that will hatch if you approach without another Alien Parasite attached to you. The eggs spawn randomly, so the locations listed aren’t guaranteed to have eggs. The exception is Guardian of the Bay, where Zyg and Choppy may place Parasite Eggs.

When Zyg and Choppy aren’t in combat, they’ll place alien eggs around the area. Bear in mind that if you eliminate them, they won’t be able to drop eggs anymore.

Zyg and Choppy have moved locations before, initially hanging out near Hydro 16. Their former locations are Weeping Woods and The Aftermath. Upcoming updates may change their locations again, so you’ll have to stay tuned.

For the time being, Alien Parasites are here to stay on Fortnite’s island. They’re pretty helpful in some instances, though not all players want them on their heads. Thankfully, the option to detach them is always present.
