How to Change Text Color in Pixlr

Pixlr allows you to create professional-looking photos with just a couple of clicks. There are a lot of tutorials online showing you how to use Pixlr to edit your photos. However, not many mention changing the color of your text.

Don’t worry. It’s not difficult at all! In this article, we’ll show you how to change text color and format your texts like a pro.

Before You Start

Since you’re here, you probably know how to add text on any picture on Pixlr. However, in case you’re not sure how to do so, we’re going to explain that as well.

1. Open the photo you want to use.
2. Go to the menu on the left side of the screen.
3. Click on Add text.

You’ll then see a new field where you can enter your text. Under that, there should be a couple of other fields that allow you to customize your text.

Changing Text Color

When you’ve entered the text, take a look at smaller fields under the text itself. That’s where you customize it. You’ll see a field named Color. The default color is usually black, but you can change it to any color you want. All you have to do is click on that field to get a selection of colors to choose from.

Pixlr will automatically offer you the most popular text colors, such as red, green, or blue.

Click on a small color palette sign, and you’ll get to see a variety of colors. Move your cursor through the palette until you find a color you like. Of course, you can try out various colors to see what they look like.

When you find the perfect color, click on OK. There you have it! You’ve just saved your new text color.

Customizing Your Text

For great results, you can customize your text in a couple of clicks.

If you look under your text, you’ll see fields such as Font, Size, and Style.

First of all, you should choose the size of your text. You can select one of the dimensions from the drop-down menu, or you can enter a number.

When it comes to the font, there’s a variety of options. You can choose from standard fonts that can be found in most other programs. But that’s not all! Some unique Pixlr fonts can make your text stand out from the rest.

Finally, don’t forget the style of the text. As with many other apps, you can choose from regular, bold, or italics, depending on the desired effect.

How to Use Gradients?

In the first part, we’ve talked about changing text color. But what if you’re bored with monochrome text and want more colors? We’ve got you covered!

Of course, you can separate your writing in more sections and then change the color of every segment. You can even separate it word by word. But there’s something even better than that! Pixlr allows you to use beautiful gradients that will make your text stylish and professional.

Here’s how to apply them:

1. Open the Layer menu and rasterize the layer containing your text.
2. Open the Edit menu and click on Pixels.
3. Select the Gradient tool from the toolbar.
4. Select one or multiple colors from the menu.

Before you apply a gradient, you can check what it will look like. You’ll see a small preview image in the top right corner of your screen. If you don’t like the color you’ve chosen, you can always select another option. Pixlr allows you to play with colors and express your creativity.

When you open the Gradient tool, you’ll see you a choice of essential colors and combinations. You’ll find that many creative patterns may look great in your text.

Feel free to experiment with these gradients and patterns. Use them to give that final touch to your design. Even if you make a mistake, you can always revert your text to neutral.

Layer Styles

Color is essential, but the style is important as well! You can style your text to create the effect you want. The same color can have a completely different effect, depending on the style. Here’s what we mean by style.

While your text is still selected, open the Layer styles from the upper toolbar. You’ll see various options you can choose from. From different types of shades to glow.

For example, you can select the opacity of your text, and use inner or outer glow. It may sound like a small detail, but it can completely transform your design.

Try using inner and then outer glow on, let’s say, the green text. You’ll be amazed by the difference it makes.

Of course, it’s up to you to decide whether you’re going to use special effects or not. It depends on the type of design you’re working on, as well as on your taste.
