Privacy Through Local Processing

Let’s start with the biggest and best-selling point of Meetily AI – its privacy. Of course, meeting tools like Otter AI promise to keep your data safe, but it does pass through their servers, and there’s no real way of knowing how it’s processed or used.

The best privacy solution is what Meetily AI has gone with: ensuring the data never leaves your PC. Meetily uses the Whisper.cpp model to transcribe audio, the offline version of OpenAI’s Whisper. Once the meeting is transcribed, it’s run through a local (or remote, your choice) LLM, courtesy of Ollama. Storage falls to a local SQLite database. Essentially, nothing leaves your machine unless you want it to.

The tool is built with a combination of Rust and Python in the backend and held together in the front by the smooth Tauri framework. This all goes to making a smooth, simple interface that’s easy to use.

Feature Light, but More Coming

Compared to other transcription tools, Meetily AI isn’t the most feature-heavy. In fact, there are a few services like speaker ID recognition, custom transcription templates, calendar, and app integration that aren’t available. But they’re coming soon, according to the developers.

However, all the core tools and features you’d expect from a transcription tool, like real-time transcription, advanced file exports, and meeting auto-detection, are available and function well. The trade-off comes in terms of privacy and price. Speaking of which…

A Whole Lot of Value

Most AI services run on a subscription basis, and Meetily AI is no exception in that area. However, compared to many other tools, there’s a lot more on offer. There’s no time limit or cap on use with Meetily AI. A monthly Pro membership will cost you $10 and provide access to everything, save for a few support options available only to Enterprise subscribers (at a custom cost).

If you’d like to try the tool first, Meetily AI offers a 14-day trial of Pro with no features blocked. But the real gem is the Community tier, which offers an open-source version of the tool for free, forever. While it might have less accuracy, support, and no auto-detection of meetings, this is still an excellent offering for those on a budget.
