AI has changed our landscape in the span of just a few years in almost every way – from the way we approach tasks to how we grapple with ethical issues, and even how we search for things online. It doesn’t just affect individuals, but companies as well. A growing amount of website content is now being scraped and summarized by AI systems rather than visited directly by users. Where will the revenue come from?
When the game changes, so do the tactics. Our Tollbit AI review will be looking at one such tool that’s adapting to the times.
Our Tollbit AI Review
We’ve broken our review down into sections for easier reference and to look at the various aspects of this tool.
What Is Tollbit AI

Tollbit, as its name implies, acts as a tollbooth for AI scrapers. Web scraping is big business for AI companies, and often happens without knowledge, consent, or compensation of those being scraped. As proper legislation and restrictions are still not in place, many companies are feeling the pinch of their traffic going down while their content is used.
Tollbit helps publishers and content sites (rather than individuals) better ride out the process through three main pillars: monitor, manage, and monetize.
Monitor, Manage, Monetize
The three pillars are the areas where Tollbit shines for its clients:
- Monitor – Tollbit provides users with a dashboard to monitor, in real-time, who is scraping and how often. Even Google Analytics won’t tell you which artificial guests are visiting. The handy display also provides other information such as revenue.
- Manage – Tollbit regulates access, not just by putting up a paywall, but by organizing publishing deals and licensing for content. While doing this, it also prevents any unauthorized scraping. The tool integrates with other APIs and will invoice AI companies automatically on the user’s behalf.
- Monetize – Tollbit gives clients freedom in how their content is accessed. AI companies pay on a per-fetch basis (up to $0.2 per fetch), per-citation (up to $5 per citation), or on a custom blend. Content can be used for full display once or summarized.

What’s the Charge
Interestingly, Tollbit doesn’t charge for its services. Clients integrate their system with Tollbit, and the tool takes a portion of the revenue for itself. This is not shown in the revenue stream on the dashboard, which means what you see is what you’re owed.
How it All Fits Together
Since its introduction in 2024, Tollbit has been making waves in the tech world. The long-term success of its model depends on the continued practices and popularity of AI companies. For users, it’s best used for clients with text-based content and used in conjunction with other tools like Cloudflare Pay Per Click for full coverage.
That said, it’s already been adopted by over 9,500 sites and seems to fill a vital niche in a rapidly changing online world.
