How to Find a Bastion in Minecraft

If you’re looking to lay your hands on rare loot, superior items, or a great deal of Gold in Minecraft, locating a Bastion can help. Primarily found in The Nether, this task can be both daunting for the feeble and exciting for the daredevils. Be aware that you’ll have to face off with the vicious Piglin critters that guard the Bastions.

How to Find a Bastion in Minecraft

This guide will provide everything you need to know about the Bastions and how to find them without the Piglins thwarting your plans.

What do You Find in a Bastion Remnant in Minecraft?

Inside a Bastion Remnant, you can find a lot of great loot. But there are also some dangerous mobs inside. The most common mob you’ll find is Piglins. They attack with either crossbows or golden swords, but as long as you wear gold armor and don’t aggro them, they will leave you alone.

You also need to be on the lookout for Piglin Brutes. These mean guys look just like Piglins but with black shirts. They attack with golden axes and do a lot of damage, and they are always angry, so be careful around them. Last but not least is Magma Cubes. They are not in all Bastions, but they can still be annoying when they are there. Be sure to stock up on plenty of items and enchanted equipment to maximize your chances of survival.

Finding a Bastion Remnant is as easy as finding slimes in Minecraft.

How to Loot a Bastion Remnant

Once you’re fully equipped and you’ve located a Remnant, follow the steps below to loot the Bastion:

  1. Carefully inspect the exterior surroundings for possible loot and hostile mobs.
  2. Use a hopper to loot the chests by carefully placing it under the chest or Shulker box you want to store it in.

  3. Place the lava bucket on the Piglins to kill them.

  4. Find the chests scattered throughout the ruins for treasure.
  5. Use Fire Resistance Potions for protection from the fire. You can also eat some Enchanted Golden Apples if you don’t have the potion.

  6. If your Bastion has a bridge at the bottom, destroy the Magma Cube Spawner underneath it and kill all the Magma Cubes.

  7.  Block yourself off from any piglins in the area before you loot the chests and steal the gold blocks.

  8. If you have them, you can use your Elytra and fireworks to escape the Piglins.

It’s possible to loot the chests without a hopper. But this will only aggravate the Piglins further when they are already spoiling for a fight. Though they are quite powerful, the Piglins can’t withstand fire, hence the need for a lava bucket.

Mining the central blocks of Gold will also have you battling a decent number of Piglins. Always watch for anyone trying to attack from above the bottommost bridge.

How to Find Bastions in Minecraft

When it comes to locating Bastion Remnants in Minecraft, there’s no surefire way. But there are a couple of tricks and tidbits of information that can make it easier.

Bastions can be found in all Nether biomes except Basalt Deltas, so avoid those biomes when searching for a Remnant.

When the Minecraft world is generated, it is divided into different regions. Multiple structures cannot occupy the same area, so if you find a Nether Fortress, it is best to move away from it to find a Bastion Remnant.

Though they do not exclusively spawn on Lava Lakes, traveling across Lava Lakes by Strider is a common and easy way to find Bastion Remnants. All you need is a Saddle and a Warped Fungus on a Stick.

There are 4 different types of Bastions:

  • Hoglin Stable Bastions: They are typically made up of two separate buildings, and you should be careful not to confuse them with Housing Bastions. The Hoglin Stable Bastions are riddled with Hoglins and hardly ever contain valuable loot.
  • Housing Bastions: They are easily identifiable by the Nether Wart, which you can find in its central courtyard. In these chambers, you can score some golden Piglin Banner Pattern or Pigstep music discs.
  • Bridge Bastion: Keep an eye out for Bastions with monster-like openings and a gold figurine at the front of the bridge. This Bridge Bastion usually contains an abundance of Gold blocks.
  • Treasure Bastion: They also contain a decent amount of Gold blocks and Netherite Ingots. You can quickly identify it through the bridge connecting its two structures. Ignoring this type of Bastion is never a smart move.

What is a Bastion in Minecraft?

Bastions are structures that can be found strewn throughout The Nether in Minecraft. They house a host of Piglins, Piglin Brutes, Hoglins, and Magma Cubes, making them dangerous to enter. However, they also hold a lot of gold and loot chests. They contain unique loot such as ancient debris, gold blocks, enchanted gear, and other rare items. Exploring and raiding Bastions can significantly enhance your gameplay experience and provide valuable resources for progression.

What precautions should I take before exploring a Bastion?

Bastions are inhabited by hostile Piglins and Piglin Brutes, so it’s essential to come prepared with adequate weapons, armor, and potions for combat. At least one piece of gold armor can be invaluable as it will prevent regular Piglins from aggroing on sight, though you may sacrifice your some in defense to do that. Additionally, consider bringing blocks for building barricades or creating escape routes in case of emergencies.

Is there a specific biome of the Nether where Bastions are more likely to spawn?

No. Bastions will spawn in any Nether biome except Basalt Deltas. There is no one biome that is significantly more likely to spawn a Bastion, so if you’re trying to find one, you’re just going to have to look around.

Scale Your Way Through Minecraft Using Bastions

Conquering Bastion Remnants isn’t an easy feat. You should never underestimate the Piglin Brutes. But with good preparation, you can always make it out alive and with loot to boot. This will allow you to shine and flex on other players within the Minecraft server. You’ll also hopefully have more fun raiding Bastions after reading this guide.
